I installed a new PSU yesterday, and now all of the sudden my SATA hard drive is lagging bigtime, or at least it is lagging in WinXP. I didn't change anything, so I don't see where this issue came from. Once WinXP loads, it takes about 30 seconds after clicked to open any window. I removed all secondary components and tried to boot with just a cd-rom and the SATA drive, but the same problem exists.
I did notice that it is trying to scan for IDE drives for Promise FastTrack 378, which it never used to do... then it does not find any, and says cannot load BIOS, but boots WinXP anyway. I am using a K8v SE Deluxe. I was just using VIA drivers to host the single SATA drive, can both driver's co-exist?
Does anyone have any ideas? It is infuriating, because I had the computer perfect, why didn't I leave well enough alone - if only I could ctrl+z yesterday afternoon!
