my sager 4880 notebook dunno what happend opened it the other day and this is what i saw. so sad
trying desperately to get it covered by warrenty

Wow, that's not good. If you didn't drop it or anything, was it left out in the cold for too long?

 Don't think that warranty will cover this. They 'll just say that you broke it by accident. Badly messed up display!!!!!!!

You can blame it on the video chip integrated into the unit. my friends G4 notebook had it's card go out on it and it looked somewhat similar.

it wasent dropped nor kicked i had knowticed in the last couple days that the left side of teh screen where teh 2 cracks meet had been changing color and had a couple dead pixels. i thought it was just lcds being tempermental. guess not. im trying to get it under warrenty as i didnt do anything to it to break it. i dont think it is expressly covered by warrenty but im gonna try ive won battles like this before. the company that makes it takes into account failures and RMAs into their budget they have insurance for this sort of thing its part of the business. and i just want to point out to the people who are gonna flame that last statement. I DID NOT BREAK IT. im not trying to screw the company out of money by burning up an OCed CPU or GPU its an LCD you cant really overclock them. ive taken good care of the laptop aswell always keeping it in its provided padded case etc. its been a wonderful piece of gear aside from broken speakers which in a laptop is about par for the course.something i did wonder about was that the break is directly over the video card in the body of the laptop. im wondering if heat and cooling from the video card could have something to do with it. rapid changes in temperature from hot to cold might stress the glass over time?

Oh yeah, Just in case. I remember a problem with a toshiba notebook where aftermarket memory died and caused something similar. If you have upgraded your ram with some store bought ram try uninstalling it to see if it helps.
