Hello all, complete noob here I'm currently paired with Dayton b652 bookshelf speakers with a Lepai 2020a+ amp and was wondering if i could add a "Dayton sub-100" for a little bit more bass.

I guess my main question is how would i go about wiring if i get a subwoofer?

you can indeed add the sub


A. You can run speaker wires to sub then from sub to your speakers then set the crossover as desired. (there are 4 speaker wire terminals on the back of the sub top set are from amp lower set then go to speakers).


B. You could get a splitter and run a 2nd rca cable to the sub..the main downside of this approach would be the bookshelfs would be trying to go full range instead of using the crossover built into the sub to only send the desired range to the speakers.


I have my polk PWS110 hooked up to my Pioneer SA-710 integrated amp in the manner A with the crossover set about 80Hz working with my JBL L1 speakers hooked up to the speaker outs on the sub....working great here

Thank you so much atarione! makes so much sense now.

I have another question for anyone out there with a similar sub, i will be upgrading from a creative all in one 2.1 setup. In the past i felt the bass was too loud and found my self lowering the volume during big action scenes in movies. Will these sub woofers have the same effect? I'm not sure if that makes any sense at all :confused: but if anyone understands me please chime in.

one of the many advantages of moving to t-amp bookshelf speakers / sub is the increased adjustablity / tuning options.

pretty much every multimedia set i have heard usually has boomy sub... blah


so when u look at the back of the sub it is has the low pass adjustments to set the cross and then also a gain knob (volume) so you can adjust the sub to match your speaker levels... i just adjusted mine by ear which worked out fine... i have my sub gain set about 1/4 way up which works out well for me.

but basically u can tweak it till you get it where u want... i had to mess around with my sub a bit sort of rethought it a bit...the 2nd / 3rd day but i'm pretty happy with the levels now.

That sub might have a more pleasing tone than the typical Logitech sub, not to mention a lot of low mid range on Logitech speakers ends up at the sub rather than the satellites because of how weak the latter are (so you have a terrible sub reproducing more of the range than any sub should pump out to begin with). But yeah, if it's too much bass it's easily adjustable.
