So I'm going to buy a sub in the near future, I just want to see what cable I can use to shave off a few bucks.

Sub will not be plugged into a receiver but instead I'll be using a series of splitters and wires and connected to my computer. So basically a cable from the sub to the pre-amp. At this point does having the 75 ohm cable really necessary?

I have the bottom one you listed from monoprice. Great cable for the money.

I think you could use the cheapest RCA cable you can find and be fine, well maybe go middle of the line but for bass output the quality of the cable isn't really going to matter.

Guessing you are going 3.5mm jack to 2x rca jacks then to amp, i've used that approach all the time and just regular rca cables no problems with sound quality on the sub, you will notice it going to the other full range speakers so heads up.

I once had my setup to put out the LFE channel a 5x 100watt reciever which went out to 5 15" subs, no that was pretty sweet other than the receiver over heating all the time.
