I'd look around for a Denon with Audyssey. This for example or this, but there may be better deals.

The Audyssey is just room sound optimization correct?
The S7000 looks pretty nice being able to run a second set of speakers to the backyard would be nice, and just do 5.1 in the basement.

I guess its between the AVR-S700W and the AVR-S500BT.

I have the older model in my game room. Appleplay is great, sound quality is good. However, these new denons don't pack the same punch as in years past. It struggles to fill a larger room.

I cautiously bought a S700W when my previous Harman Kardon receiver died after many years of use. It was an Amazon Gold box deal otherwise I would not have bought it. Phenomenal receiver, I was really surprised by the features and quality for the price. The Audessey feature is some pimp stuff, I really like how well it seems to work in my theater setup which have mixed speakers from different manufacturers, in a basement setup with two concrete walls on the sides. My area is roughly 300 sq feet and it gets plenty loud.

I've only had one issue with AirPlay and resolved that by running a network cable to the receiver instead of using WiFi.
