basicaly im just asking for the best 19" moniter under $250. for a 5 years my sylvania L15 (15" LCD) has served me well on older systems, but when i got my new system (P4 2.8HT 9800Pro) i knew it would have to go. Epesially now that i've gotin into some serious gaming, CAD design, and a little flash design ( i know its alot to ask from one system but it seems to handle it well) the real problem is @1024 x 768 all the menu's and toolbars in my cad's and espesially flash take up like 90 % of the screen. not only that but its started its death spiral, i get red lines and dots around grey and red objects, its even started flikering every once and a while (not really a fliker but the best way i can describe it is that i can see it refresh itself sometimes). im 14 so can't afford to drop 600 bucks on a 19" lcd. The 19" requirment is really more so i can run 1600 x 1200 or even 1792 x 1344 which i've seen on a few 19"ers

I'd get the Samsung 955DF (19") DynaFlat CRT. It's a great 19" monitor for just over $200 shipped. For around $300-$350 you could get the NEC Diamondtron 19" CRT (model DP930SB-BK). I've never compared these two monitors but the latter is supposed to be better.
 
mabye i wrote the title wrong, i really don't mind spending around $ 250 without shipping (around dosent mean an extra $100 mind you) anyway just wanted to Clarify that. iv'e herd some bad things about the aperture grille giving you lines on the screen. and i've also herd something about a green haze on the nec's.

I personally don't mind the 2 thin lines, its almost impossible to find while gaming. The only way that I can really see it is if I work on a word processor with a white background.

If your adamant about not getting the aperature grill then you might consider

the Mitsubishi DP930SB is probably teh best 19" you can buy

Dell has lots of sales (and they do carry that monitor). I bought one recently for about $310 (including taxes + free shipping. $287 sale price)
