What should I look for in a sub-200$ digital camera?
I'm not looking to take pro shots. Mostly just take picture of my upcoming mods and such. You guys have any nudges or tips? I've noticed that most of you are using Canon cameras. Any other brans I should be looking for.

Best Sub-$200 camera is the Canon A510. I have one, and it takes outstanding pictures for a point and shoot. Plus, if EVER you do want to start taking a more serious look into photography it has a slew of manual controls for you to play with and become familiar with.

I can get the A510 for the same price as a refurbished A85. (280.00$ CDN)
Any comments on that? The warranties on both are 3 years in-store + manufacturer's.
However, manufacturer's warranty probably no longer applies on the A85.

Thanks for the reply!

IIRC, the A510 is the newer version of the A85. Unless I'm confused, and the A85 is 4mp, which would make the A520 the newer version, and the A510 the newer version of the A75.

Anyway, I would say unless you really need the extra ~.7 megapixels, all things being pretty much equal otherwise, you should be basing your decision on out the door or shipped price, ease of return/rma in the case of problems, store reputation, etc. I picked my A510 up at walmart for $180 USD.

Also, don't forget that you will want to get a bigger memory card and rechargeable batteries with the camera. The 16mb card supplied holds less than 15 full res. photos, and regular AA batteries will give you about 45 mins of use if you're lucky.
