looks like there is not a lot of option in the sub15'' gaming laptop. There is also less option with a AMD GPU.

Any options beside the m14x wich is not even AMD.

The Asus K43TA comes to mind.
AMD A6-3400M processor and a 6720G2 gpu.

The only problem is that I don't think it was released in the states.

Yeah, the screen rez is a negative. It's not that bad on a 14" screen, but it was one of the factors that pushed me to a 15.6" laptop recently even though I prefer the 14" size.

Was looking at the y470p as well. Great price with a good upper-mid GPU, but my cell phone has a higher res screen  Also, you can't get them anywhere and reports are they're backordered at Lenovo for months (by which time something better will likely come out)

The Dell Vostro 3550 is on the upper end of your size limit but comes with a choice of i3-i7 and HD6630M (think it's switchable). Only 1366x768 though.

The Vaio SA has a similar loadout (i5-i7 with switchable HD6630M) but worth reading some reviews of first to see if you can cope with the downsides. Has a 1600x900 screen but contrast/viewing angles are bad.
