SU does not give user root priviledges

Are you running GRSec/SELinux any other extra ACL system? That might cause denials. Otherwise make sure you are root by doing a whoami or id.
 
Or I could just pay more attention and run the command su correctly. By say executing the command as "su -" :rolleyes: . That was incredibly stupid on my part.
