Stuttering

Recently I got a Pro and made it an XT.
When I got the thing, the first thing I did was run Doom 3.
It ran ok, albeit inbetween nasty stutters.

I didn't think anything of it at the time (I was running it at Ultra at 1600x1200, so I just thought it was a performance issue).
Anyway, I also ran 3DMark03 and it ran perfectly, got around 9850 or something.

Did the mod to XT - ran 3DMark03 and it ran perfectly (no stuttering at all, nice and smooth), got a score of about 11850. I was exceedingly happy.
Fired up Doom 3 - same stuttering - no matter the resolution.
Still didn't think much of it - perhaps drivers or something (had 4.8's installed - did lots of radeon switching though (had a 7000 and a 9500 recently in there).

Fired up FarCry to test that out w/ my new card.
It works flawlessly, smooth as a biatch.

Then I tried the new MOHPA demo - that one also stutters like Doom 3.

So, removed the drivers, got a driver cleaner and did that.
Installed Cat 4.9's.
Same issue.

Did a search for stuttering - got something about AGP latency - found that the option to reduce it in ATI-tool - this had no effect.

Anyone know why my card stutters horribly in a few games? Why is it perfectly smooth in FarCry and 3DMark23?

Not at my computer right now - was going to check mobo and AGP drivers when I get home, Pretty sure they are all up to date, though.

Thanks for any help..

I get the same shuttering with my x800pro... figure it's the drivers... Then again I have my AGP aperature size set to 256 and my mobo only shows that it's a 128 card... Bastages... Ordering new mobo soon with a 800 fsb and 8x.

So, checked aperature size and fast writes. Fast writes was enabled and aperature size was at 128 mb. I set it to 256 mb and noticed a little less stuttering though it's still there.

Getting actual release of 4.9 right now, we'll see how that works.
