I have 512 DDR, 2500+@ 3200, 6600GT, and I was messing around with benchmarking, and demo 1 has massive hitching@ HQ mode, but read below if you think it's ram.
I got 40 avg at 1024, but there was places were it would completely pause for a few seconds.
I thought it was because I'm dual booting, but I reinstalled it and it's still like that.

Drivers are the 67.03
er.. after doing some searching, I found out about the precache.. ya, not I get 54.
Now I will play game with cache set to on, since when I tried to actually play the game, the performance was so horrible I stopped it as soon as the intro movie stopped and you get to walk around.

Where are some demos I can download like that [H] uses in their reviews? Or do they not do that for fear of IHV's cheating?

Ya I know, but I wan't to compare to performance to reviews.
Like I did that with far cry via the HardwareOC benchmarking tool.

[H] doesn't use demos...they actually play the game through.

Fraps won't make a benchmarking demo of Doom3 - it'll just make a movie of what was displayed on your graphics card.

Use the demo commands for making demos in Doom 3.

The issue you're having is due to not having enough memory. If you lower the resolution of textures or lower the quality of audio, gameplay will improve at the expense of visual/audio quality.

Add more ram to improve things across the board.

To improve timedemo fps, run the demo twice.

I got it running ok, not sure if its the fastest 6600GT/ 3200+ 512(333mhz) score, but its smooth.
Btw, if you use the cache command, right after it finishes loading, it precaches, so there's no slow downs- that's what was killing me.
But in Half Life 2, that's another story
Using anands AT_canals_08.dem demo, I only get 30fps avg with 8AF and 4X AA at 1024
I am running driver in HQ mode, but that still wouldn't account for the huge diff.
I know anand uses a 4000+, but he's getting 72.7 fps- thats more than two times the fps:mad:
Perhaps this is why people say HL2 loves memory?
erm. found problem.
So why does forcing the refreshrate kill my fps? The reason I knew to use it, is that I remeber reading about this bug. Is there a driver that fixes it?
