i just wanted to clarify something, if you plug a usb 2.0 device (i.e. thub drive) to a usb 2.0 socket via a usb 1 extension cable will it transfer at usb 1 or 2 speeds. wasent sure if there was actually such a thing as usb 1 or 2 cables.
 
USB 1.x cables are supposed to be compatible with USB 2.0 speeds. There isn't supposed to be any difference in the cable specs from 1.x to 2.0. That said, YMMV.
