Sorry for such a simple question, couldn't find an answer on my own.
I've got two computers, let's call them the media computer and the gaming computer. The gaming computer has an ATA drive that the operating system is installed on and a SATA drive to hold all my stuff. The gaming computer just has a single SATA with the operating system.
Just a few weeks ago the motherboard on the media server died. All the other hardware is fine, but I am currently searching for a motherboard that matches the proper specs. Anyway, I need to get my hands on some stuff from the SATA drive in the media computer. Can I simply disconnect that SATA drive from the media computer and then reconnect it to an extra SATA port on the gaming computer without trashing my data? Additionally, when I finally get my new motherboard can I reverse the process and put the SATA disk back into the media computer?
Thanks for bearing with me.
