ok im getting ready to buy the ASUS Radeon X1900 XT from newegg and my friend was telling my the fan on the card is extremely loud..So i didnt know what fan would keep my card cool and also quiet. Im sorry if this is such a noobish question but i wanted to see what my options are, and also find out if replacing that fan a possibility or not. Would that void my warranty.
 
Removing and installing an after-market heat sink/fan will void your warranty.

But if you decide to go ahead and make the change, my suggestion is the Zalman VF900 cu. It’s quite, easy to install and offers the best cooling on air.

thanks man i really do appreciate it......I was in the process of googling it and came across that exact same thing but wasnt sure if that was what i needed.....
 
You could also install a software fan controller like Ati Tray Tools to control your fan speed or set it to ramp up as the card temperature increases.
 
45% on the fan speed is bearable, but once you get above 55% or so, you might start to hear the fan =/ 45% should provide adequate cooling.
 
Try out the stock fan first. The fan doesn't crank up until you get into some heavy 3d games and by then the sound of the action drowns out the fan. I really don't notice the fan noise that much, of course I've got the 5.1 cranked up.
