I've got a friend having a problem with his 9800GTX. I can't really describe it, so I'll just post the pics:

Please excuse the titles... they're his, not mine.
First he gets some minor stuttering, then this static, then his comp will freeze and he'll sometimes have to reboot. My reasoning is that it might be a driver error, since the screenshot was able to capture it and you wouldn't expect that to be the case if it was just the graphics card.

Any ideas as to what this is? He claims his temps and PSU check out.

What motherboard does he have? One based on the nvidia 750i or 780i perhaps?

Do these symptoms occur during or after playing movies/videos?

750i, they just start up randomly.

Looks suspiciously like the infamous 750i video corruption issue is rearing it's ugly head again. Tell him to try updating the BIOS on his motherboard to the latest available version.

It could also be a bad card, but those screenshots sure look a lot like the 750i vc issue...

Eh could be.

sounds like the card is bad to me, it kinda looks like artifacting, is the card OC'd at all or does that case have terrible ventilation? Temps would usual;ly be the issue.......
Sounds like the card is jacked up, just RMA it and you should be fine!
