Lately - new computers have been coming with the "remember password" checkbox AWOL.

You know - when you log into a website that requires a password (not from HTML programming - or form auto complete) - but an actual OS password. Previously - there was a checkbox there that allowed the user to remember the password. But now it's gone.

I have not been able to locate the setting that turns this off. Most likely it's some kind of piggyback setting that's not directly spelled out.

Can anyone help me out please?

DOH! Sorry.

IE 6.0 - windows XP. SP2 I believe.

It's not the autocomplete settings - that I know how to turn on and off.

It's for secured directories via OS on a website - and a dialog box comes up asking for the user ID and password. However no "save password" checkbox is present.

Not 100% sure what you are trying to do but lots of online sites are not allowing you to "save password" from the coding on their end. Nothing you can do about it but be happy they are trying to enforce good security upon you.

AHHH, that. I know what you mean. I don't know though, as I use Firefox pretty much exclusively, not IE.

No clue - I just remember reading that our online banking says that they have disabled that "feature" to promote better security. I might argue how its "better" but thats for another thread....
