Study: Throttling Unlimited Data Plans Is Pointless

reread this today.
It makes even less sense the only logical conclusion that can be drawn from this article is that unlimited plans should be done away with.
Then the provider makes more money from the top 5% and the top 5% don't get throtled.

I don't like that conclusion at all.

I seriously think that ATT is trying to get rid of their high usage customers and get them to migrate to Sprint.
I have a theory that ATT's bandwidth that it owns is close to saturation. They have more iPhone users then Verizon and Sprint ...and it is an established fact that iPhone users use more bandwidth them anybody else. Any new customers they get will have to be jammed in with existing customers. I think in theory if they get rid of their top 5%, they can sign triple if not quadruple the number lost, in new customers without clogging up the network anymore then it is. I think their play for acquiring T-mobile was actually to obtain their bandwidth. Unless the FCC auctions more frequencies in the near future. ATT is out of luck.
