Authorities have uncovered what’s being called the “broadest online school security failure ever in the U.S.” in the Indianapolis Public School system. Confidential information on thousands of kids, including phone numbers, birth dates and Social Security numbers was available online for anyone to see. Thanks to Andar for the link.

An Indianapolis Star reporter using Google found information on at least 7,500 students and some staff members, including phone numbers, birth dates, medical information and Social Security numbers. Such student information is required to be kept private under federal law.

At least they didn't download any MP3s, and only individuals' private information was lost.
