Picked up a Westinghouse 17" LCD monitor at Best Buy this week (looks great BTW). After checking for dead/stuck pixels I found that I had one, stuck. It's in the upper left quadrant of the screen.

Once I noticed it it really started to bug me. But I figured I'd try and live with it. The next morning I turn on my PC and it's gone! Come home from work, turn on the PC and it's still gone. I play some ET and UT2004 for a bit and quit to the desktop...it's back!! This morning it's gone again.

Is this normal in any way? Should I be concerned about other pixels getting stuck/dying? I searched and didn't find anyone with this particualr problem. Anyone know what Westinghouse's dead/stuck pixel policy is? It's not mentioned on ther website or warranty card.

Anyone? Is this normal behaviour for a stuck pixel?

I did call Westinghouse and in case anyone needs the info here is their policy:

They will replace if you have the following:

1-2 dead/stuck pixels dead center
2-3 dead/stuck pixels in the middle area of the screen
5 or more dead/stuck pixels scattered on the panel

The "tech" support wasn't really able to answer my question concerning the stuck/unstuck pixel.

I think having one like that is fairly common. I have one like that on one of my kids monitors. You can rub it and it will go away for awhile. Good luck getting it fixed through as most companies will not warranty for one stuck pixel.

Well, it came back again. I watched it while playing some UT 2004 and it almost looked like it was trying to work, it would change intensity as the background changed. But, in the end, I just couldn't stop staring at it!! So, back it went with the intention of swapping it out for the 19" version hoping for no dead pixels...but they were out of stock. I ended up returning it and picked up a 19" Viewsonic VA912b at Circuit City.

No dead or stuck pixels!!! Weeeeee!!!! :D And looks great!
