Stuck... no sound

So I got a new system, but I can't get the sound to work to save my life. Any ideas?

MSI K8N Neo
Creative Blaster Audigy 2 ZS

All the creative tests work, just nothing on the speakers and I've tried multiple pairs. Turned off the system board sound in the BIOS. I couldn't get the system sound to work either though since Windows didn't seem to recognize it.

The Creative seems to be recongized by windows, everything seems to be done right, just no sound at the speakers... and yes I checked mute.

Thanks.

Waiting to play Doom3 but no sound :(

So no sound on either the onboard sound, or creative soundcard?

I would try uninstalling all sound devices in general and just reinstall the sound card making sure that the onboard sound is disabled in BIOS

I did a half unistall and reinstall to no avail. I'm wondering if I should try to unistall everything and just get the MOBO sound working but I'm not sure if that proves anything either way.

Is there anything on the motherboard that can just turn off sound? I don't see anything that would do it.

Thanks.

Not that I know of, but I have heard of Creative cards being picky about what PCI slot they are in. You might want to try moving it around as well.

Makes me feel a little better, I'll try the different PCI slot and see if it makes a difference... but for now I'm going to enjoy it while everything is actually working.

Thx.

Changing PCI slot didn't help, tried installing new drivers and changed every setting in the system. Nothing. Customer service from Creative hasn't been real helpful so far, they want me to make sure my volume is up... thanks. Looks like I might just return it.

Any other cards that people would recommend that install and perform?

is the speaker cord plugged into the sound card that might be the problem?

If you are a big gamer there isnt too much option out there besides a Creative card, a lot of people rave about the M-audio Revolution though. It supposedly has superior audio quality, but is more suited for music rather than games

ofcorse customer survice from anywhere wont help u fix a problem, it will only give you a new problem. Most of those people answeing the phones are not very computer smart other then what they are trained to do.

Are you running a digital out put on that creative card? are you running it to compatible speakers? Or should you be running analog?

Running analog. The speakers/wires work perfectly (5.1 surround) when put on the MOBO sound. Just nothing from the audigy.

I'd like to get it working, but I can't even think of what to do next.

Tried it in another system yet?
