SLI Rig...

I'm stuck between using these two PSU's.

Fortron Blue Storm 500W PSU
Fortron FSP550-60PLN 550W

My concerns are that I will be having SATA and SLI. Can either handle those in my system well enough? Do they have the proper connectors (Blue Storm does but I'm not sure on the other)? Also, seeing if it's worth the $30 dollars between them.

well, truely, I dont think either one of those can handle SLI 6800gt's.....I readin some forums that the antec neopower 480w, which is more powerful than either fortrons, has problems powering SLI 6800'gt/ultra's... but I would say the blue storm is better b/c of dual rails. OOO I forgot, the 530W one ONLY HAS 18AMPS on the 12V rail....watt doesn't mean jack in this situation.....the bluestorm is alot better for the videocards...ALOT better........

Ahh, dual rails. Are dual rails as easy as a single rail when it comes to hooking it up? Thanks. ;)

For sure.

The dual +12V rails are there to split up the load. I'd go with the Blue Storm.

well i have a bluestorm 500w and it is not only very stable through the rails (checked from bios and asus probe utility) but is a quiet operator as well. AFAIK it only has good reviews from tomshardware, silentpcreview, neoseeker and cluboverclocker. I also had the same question in mind, but now i wonder if it will support dual core a64s and sli 6800gts together.
get the bluestorm 500w

really? it's not really that stable? what kind of rails are you getting from your asus probe? I would gladly want to know since I am purchasing this psu in a few days, if it is pretty low...or so and so...I might as well throw in 10 extra bucks for the antec truepower 480w with alot more features...and 36 whopping amps on the 12v :0 but the only bad thing I dont think is the non sleeved/messy cable on the antec :(

I think you read it wrong, azn-- he said, "it is not only very stable" meaning it is stable but he had another point to make, "but it is a quiet operator as well".

;)

OOOO haha I see thnx for pointing thta out, I must've skimmed through it really fast :)

i have the fortron blue storm and same motherboard as you and so far one 6800gt. i didnt think the fortron could power my system also keep in mind nv70 is gonna require more power then previous nvidia cards so i got the pc power and cooling 510sli which i got today.
