Stuck at shutting down (Win 7 pro)

Not sure where to put this as I think the culprit is my SSD drive (M4-CT256M4SSD2).

This has now happened on my work desktop (Optiplex 980), I switched for this very reason to this desktop from a laptop HP 8470P.

It would start by firefox freezing and not being able to close, then when I try my shot at IE it also ends up freezing, cannot close either program on Taskmanager. When I want to restart it would be at the Shutting down loop. I have left the laptop on over night with that shutting down stage and it never moved when i open my laptop to find it was still shutting down. (Have my settings to close lid and do nothing)

Now that I'm on a desktop it just happened today. It seems like the bug doesnt affect the boot sequence and just goes straight to windows without an "improper shutdown". Anyone experience this before?

We use a scripted image at work, and my laptop was once encrypted. It seems it could be the SSD because the laptop and desktop are completely different. My desktop isnt encrypted but the same things installed, Win 7 pro, office 2010 plus, symantec SEP12.

If anyone has a fix or advice it would greatly appreciated!!! :)
 
Have you run a chkdsk c: /f

Have you tried wiping and doing a clean install?

Have you tried clearing out the temp files as well as clearing out the Windows update cache?

Have you tried getting rid of the System restore points/

Have you tried disabling and re-enabling the swap file?

Have you tried getting rid of the hibernation file?

Have you tried updating the chipset and SATA drivers?
 
Yup, tried updating to latest firmware and it didnt need it.

I did a clean install when I took the ssd out of the laptop and put it into the desktop.

The company I work for turns off restore points, system restore is off.

I have yet to try the disable/enable swap file.

I got rid of hibernate (powercfg.exe /hibernate off) but if there is a file i can get rid of I can do that too.

Sorry it took awhile to respond, im now at work now and want to try what cyclone3d recommended.
 
Does your company use roaming user profiles? Maybe there is something wrong with your windows user profile and while you switched to the desktop machine the damaged profile was loaded there and the problem followed.

Problems can originate from not enough disk space (on the file server where the profile is stored, maybe quotas), faulty permissions or bad network connection.
 
Our connection at work is pretty solid, although slow at times. I'm connected directly to the cubicle port.
Also we do not use roaming profiles.

Its just weird that the same thing is happening on the desktop that WAS happening on my laptop. I reimaged this desktop back in December too.
