I got my 3200+ 90nm yesterday and I've been having one hell of a time with it. I'm using the equipment in my sig. I can't seem to get a good OC out of the thing.
My goal is to hit a minimum of 2.6ghz by it seems any approach I take to get there fails Prime95 in 0-4 minutes. Here is what I've tried:
10x260, tried 133 and 166 memory dividers
9x289 - extreme instability
HTT set to 3x
Memory was run at 3-4-4-10(memtest stable)
Yes that is right, I ran my memory at 172mhz 3-4-4-10 timings so the memory is not the problem here.
Memory slots 1&2 and 3&4 tried.
Laxed timings from A64 Tweaker for maximum stability.
1.55-1.76v vcore
2.7-3.6v vdimm(3.6v used with BH-5)
Settings in BIOS:
Spread Spectrum DISABLED
NV/ATi Speedup DISABLED
AGP @ 67mhz
SATA is locked on channels 3&4
@ 1.76v my idle temp is 38C and my load temp is 63C, seems high for water cooling but I tried 2 totally different types of thermal paste and got the same results so I'm guessing its the damn heatspreader.
My PSU is 550w and has 28A on the 12v rail so it is not the PSU.
It is either my motherboard or my CPU here. I also have tested a 3500+ NewCastle and 2x512MB BH-5 sticks in the same motherboard and both CPUs could not reach 2.6ghz. I think MSI sent back the same exact motherboard when I RMAed it...
I've run out of ideas here, if anyone has a suggestion I'd really appreciate it.
