Hi,
I´m currently planning for a new VMware virtual san built with Supermicro´s SC216 chassis. I´d like to put in SATA3 drives in JBOD mode and therefore I´m asking myself which parts I actual need to get it running (unfortunately Supermicro´s configurator is for reseller only...)
I have concerns about the (maximum) bandwith:
4x Intel S3700 800GB 2.5 == 4x 550 MB/s == ~4x SATA3 (lanes)
20x WD Velociraptor 1TB, 10k, 2.5" == 20x 200MB/s == ~7x SATA3 (lanes)
So what mainboard / HBA would you suggest to get this setup working?
