OK my XP FUBAR'ed again (lasts a few months with me trying to keep the system sane!!!)
This time it said the file system32/nkoskrn.exe was missing/corrupted. The XP-recover did not fix. Boot into my linux and using ntfs3g to gain RW permission to copy the exe from the dll cache also didn't help

Now I don't have a ghost of my install (don't know what program to use) so I gotta do a fresh install. Is there a program I can use to make a really small XP install?

Chek out nlite. It is an awesome program for creating a custom install disc... It has a bit of a learning curve but is well worth it to cut out all the bloatware.

This is more or less what your looking for.
