Hey, I've asked this same question on this board before, but I've decided to change a few things, so I was wondering about which I should go with. My future system:

E6600 OC'd as high as possible
G.Skill HZs 2gb ddr2-800
320gb HDD e-SATA
1x 8800GTX eVGA ASC3
750watt PSU

Both the Bad Axe 2 and Striker Extreme are OEM, so they're around $200 each (at newegg). Keep in mind that the most important thing for me is OCing, and I won't be adding a second video card.

If you are not adding a second card, please for the love of God, go with the Bad Axe.. It'll save you so many hassles down the line. The Striker is a difficult beast to tackle.

Difficult in what way? I'm probably going to go with the Bad Axe 2 (60%), but I want to know if the Striker has any OCing advantages, or maybe there's a completely different board that'll OC even better.

I've been debating with the Bad Axe 2 myself but it's between that and the DFI 965. I'm probably going to go with the Bad Axe 2 because number one for me is stability and the Bad Axe 2 is full of it.

If I am going a bit OT then forgive me but how's the onboard sound for the Bad Axe 2? I'm asking because I don't think I'll be getting a soundcard anytime soon since I just totaled my build cost to about 1208$ if I get this board.

Realtek is a pain in the arse if you ask me.

I've been superbly happy so far with SigmaTel, even if the sound quality isn't toe-to-toe with an add-on card, it's been far less stressful for me on my BadAxe1; cost less too. :)

I'm seriously debating picking up a BadAxe2, not sure yet though.

So the Intel HD Audio is just good enough to live with. I can dig it. It'll buy me some time because I still haven't even figured out what soundcard to get yet so yeah. Oh yeah, I recall seeing some thread with johnnyguru (probably in his forum) about there being a lot of DOA BX2s coming in? I forgot the whole ordeal but yeah. Once again if I'm derailing all you need to do is tell me to shut up ;)

Toss a link if you could. Johnny's usually spot on and thorough.

Don't see how it's derailing, it's pertinent info related to the products.Just my opinion, though.

Alright, I'll try to find it. When I get it I'll edit this post. I just think it's derailing because I'm making the OP's topic..well, my topic.

Heh, if anything, we're all here to 'sound board' off one another. What you have to say about the products, and what any of us have to say, could help in his decision; good or bad.

But, if you feel so, you could always just PM me. I don't have a BadAxe2, but I've done my fair share of reading about it; along with extensive work on my BadAxe1. Stability wise, it's been probably the most impressive yet for me (worked with a few ASUS boards, MSI and ECS, heard good and bad about DFI's--but I'm a stability man, not "MAD" OC Scientist). It's had a hiccup (just recently in fact) but I've been able to recover and most the time it's user error or that fact I'm running a tad out of spec.

Hmm, I see. I think the second poster hit the nail on the head. And It's subject I've recently discussed with a few people.

RoHS, while great for the environment, may mean more extensive QA (possible higher pricing, because of Quality Assurance) or quicker product ware; resulting in more RMA's if not dealt with. It's a give or take and will likely effect all PC components negatively for some time. There's likely more to it then that, but it's worthy to take note on.

Thanks for the link!

No problem. That's pretty much the only thing holding me back from it but as for the DFI Dark 965 I just the the bios option will completely kill me since I'm a newb and I'm still question it's stability.

Unless this is for work or school --or damn important-- you can always do like natural selection; trial and error. ;)

Best of luck, to both of ya!
