Streaming....from one PC to Another?

So, the bottom line is, I would like to start streaming/recording some game-play sessions. I would like it though, if the streaming/recording/encoding impacted said game-play as little as possible. I have two fairly nice systems that I can use for this purpose. My questions is, what is the best way to send what I’m playing from one system to the other? (Assuming it is possible to do without massive amounts of additional spending that is).

I have taken a look at one of these (Game Capture HD60 Pro | elgato.com) but am not sure it would work (and if so, what the implementation steps would be). Any help would be appreciated!

Are you looking to capture video or just want to stream the gameplay somewhere else in the house?

Well, I would like to capture and save (post elsewhere later) and potentially stream live to Twitch. Streaming in the house....not needed. The two systems I have will be sitting right next to one another.

A capture card is exactly what you need. It will be installed in PC#2 (the lesser of the two PC's)

You then clone the display output from PC #1 across Monitor 1 and Capture Card (Acts as a fake monitor in a sense, you will see Elgato HD60 in the display outputs), then whatever you see is now transmitted to PC #2.

From there, you download Open Broadcaster Software, open it, and add a video source (Choose ElGato HD60).

Now you can either record to file or broadcast to your favorite streaming service.

That...was a great answer. Thanks!!

Additional question...........When streaming in this configuration, the mic and cam would work best connected to the secondary (encoding/recording/streaming) system correct?

I do a similar thing with my HTPC and my desktop. My desktop is lower power than my HTPC but I stream to twitch from the desktop machine. So I will have a game running on the HTPC and I use Steam In-Home Streaming to get the game on the lower power machine. Since the low power machine isn't rendering the game, (just a video stream of it from the other computer) it leaves enough horsepower to stream the game to twitch (using OBS.) With the Steam in-home streaming I have use of all the mics and other gadgets that the game could use, even if those are connected to the other computer. This solution works without buying additional gear to use for streaming. The downside of this type of game capture and streaming, the picture is not as crisp as it could be (being streamed and all) and most of the games/programs used need to be on Steam for this to work (no Origin or Battle.net games yet.)
