Streaming audio from a Virtual Private Server(VPS)

Hi all ,
i am here cause i am stuck with a problem when trying to stream audio from my vps 24/7.
I have setup my VPS using Windows server 2008 R2 and downloaded Icecast, Winamp , Null output plugin for Winamp and Edcast plugin for Winamp. I have also opened the port i stream using windows firewall and till till this stage it works awesome. My problem comes when i stream , all programs are ready for streaming and winamp is playing. when i connect to the server through the browser to listen to the music i stream , the player seems to play music but there is no sound coming out from my speakers. I am sure that the problem is not my speakers. also, I have to annotate something. I use null output plugin for Winamp cause if i use the default plugin winamp sends an error that there is no driver or no soundcard and this is true cause its a remote server (VPS). Is there anything i can do to stream music from this server? I need some information if anyone knows.

I have a fair amount of experience with shoutcast and streaming audio and video with vlc.

Your post is some what hard to understand. Are you remote desktopped into the VPS server trying to stream your music? Audio pass through might not work. On your local machine you'll need to do: http://myvpsserver:8000 in your media player of choice.

one more thing.. How big is your VPS? How many clients do you plan to have connect to you? I tend to shy away from VPS servers and go with dedicated ones because of the potential demand. If you rented your VPS server from a hosting company, you'll need to watch bandwidth usage. You could easily over run your limits.

edit again.. reread your post.. your using the null out put plugin.. that means, winamp is dumping the audio to null/nothing. Your VPS doesn't have an audio card hence why its erroring out. You'll need to connect to your VPS machine from another machine that does have a sound card.

thank you for answering and trying to help me out.
This is what really happens.
I remote desktop to my VPS using windows default remote desktop application. Before i connect to my VPS i choose from 3 choices. 1.play sound on local machine , 2. Dont play sound , 3. play sound on remote machine. I choose the third option cause if i pick the first one the sound will just be connected with my pc and there will be no real output to my VPS.
The VPS i use is free cause i am an academic student and it was given to me cause i study at a university. It is hosted at okeanos.grnet.gr . Nul output plugin for winamp was just a try to get it work. i am just searching for ways to get it work. furthermore, i choose the third option from windows remote desktop connection i connect to my server and it seems like the system is muted and says there is no soundcard or driver.

if anyone is willing to post his opinion or a solution i ll be glad to hear

also i dont use port 8000 but 4444. i think there no difference but just to mention. and if u wanna test it and look how it seems the ip for listening to the stream is http://83.212.123.91:4444/live.mp3
if u want to test it out tell me and ill open the stream up. But the result is that i browse to this address and then it seems like playing but with no sound.
finally my VPS has no limit for usage.
i just search for a way to get the audio output to the stream using winamp while there is no soundcard on the remote machine.

You will not hear sound on your local machine if you run the Nulloutput plug in. Not from the VPS but from your desk top you'll need to connect to http://83.212.123.91:4444/live.mp3.

If you can't get to http://83.212.123.91:4444/live.mp3 from your desktop then edcast is not set up correctly, or your vps doesn't allow the use of streaming audio.
