Strange Video Problem

When I try to watch movies(DVD) or any type of movies from on my PC I do not get a full color display in Power DVD, Winamp or Windows Media Player. It looks like it's only displaying 256 or 1000 colors. Movies in Quicktime display perfectly and when I play BF2 I have no problems.

At first I thought it was a problem with PowerDVD and reinstalled it with the same problem. I d/l'ed Nvidia's newest display driver and no dice after the restart. Im in display 1280x1024 with 32bit color, Direct X 9.0c on my Geforce 6800gt.

Any ideas what the problem may be? It shouldn't be a hardware problem, but no idea what else I can do.
 
I think I had a similar problem and here was the solution:

Oh yea, I had that same issue with 77.72, heh.

Right click on your desktop and click properties.

Click on the Settings tab.

Click Advanced.

Click GeForce xxxxxx tab.

Click Color Correction.

Change "Apply color changes" to All.

Click Apply.

This is the strangest thing! I had trouble with this for about a day or so, then I decided to seek some higher knowlege (aka [H] ). Anyways, what is the cause for this? Is it known?
Im sure there are many 6800 gt / gtoc owners out there who are experiencing this right now. Perhaps a sticky for a week or so?
