Strange router issue

My router is being weird lately.
If the router is rebooted you can access the configuration page / connect wirelessly,
but within 5 minutes you can no longer connect to it; however the internet still functions as it should with all the wired connections sans the ability to configure the router which requires a reboot.
I am using the latest firmware for the model and have tried resetting the default settings numerous times to no effect.
Does anyone have an idea regarding what might be the issue?
For reference it is a Motorola router

Try emptying browser temp files
Try a different browser just to see if your primary one is somehow affected...or..try from another PC.
Lotsa "toolbars" on your browser? Clean from ad/spyware?
 
Its the same no matter what browser I'm using, even using my laptop or a friends laptop.
Its actually worse with wireless because it simply drops the connection and then modem has to be restarted.
And yeah I'm clean from ad/spyware

when I was a field technician for an ISP up here, I came across this fairly often.
99% of the time, it was fixed by either doing a hard reset of the router (returning to factory config, then reconfiguring), or a firmware upgrade.

that other 1% was due to it being an ancient router, that was just kicking the bucket.
