Hey guys, I just got another drive for some backups and something weird is going on.

I transfered all my stuff from 1 drive to the 2nd one and all the icons for the exe have gone. Now it just shows please windows icons.

Another thing too, some of my EXE wont run, they just start up like they going to run (hard drive activity light lights up) and it just doesnt open...nothing...

any reason for this?

You can't do that with installed programs on windows. They setup registry entries in the OS that tells the system how to configure them, what options to use, where all the data files are, etc., and these settings are specific to where you originally installed the program to. If you then move the app elsewhere the paths are no longer valid, and thus most will crash or exit with errors. Executable icons themselves are stored in seperate files and normally rely on the registry to tell windows which icon to use and where to find it.

MoveIt Freeware (thanx to Tiny)

and
instructions are also included here
SuperPartitioning
using TweakUI and X-Setup (both freeware)

but personally I keep all my registry dependent aps on my OS partition ;)

and just Ghost it around

Well...i figured it out....I got the Nilkas virus.

I have no idea how it got past my my Norton, but it did....i lost half my backed up stuff too....i cant belive it.
