Ok, so im building a PC for a client. It's a P4 3.2GHZ PRESCOTT chip on an MSI 865PE Mobo. After installing and going to BIOS i went to temps and noticed them sitting at 140 F and so i shut it down. I then tried to reseat and did it again and got similar results. I have plenty of other fans in the case. So removed intels standard thermal sploo and aded my own. Now the thep starts at 120 and works up to 140 slowly. What the crap is wrong?

prescotts are known to be very hot chips. air cooling will have temps around 120F easily. just make sure you have some artic silver on the chip and some good airflow in the case.

Probably bad reporting or something... its only 60C anyways, thats within the specs for P4... I really wouldnt worry about it, thermal throttling will save ur ass if something goes really wrong.
