strange mouse problem plus other strangeness

i came back from a weekend away from my pc (which was still on when i left) and found it had crashed. after restarting, the hd light wouldn't flash and there was no signal being sent to the monitor. ok, restart again, finally something comes up. the system health has info in red text (cpu fan speed, vdd voltage?).

ok, finally loads up, login ect. when starting up, the mouse froze in place while the rest of the system operated fine. so, since i can't really do anything without a mouse, restart again. this time same problem with the monitor, restart again. next time, it says floppy disk failure. restart. next time, it says cpu overclock failure, and i notice the cpu speed had gone down to 1100 from 1833. when i finally login to windows again, same mouse failure. rinse and repeat many more times for the rest of the day. but now everything is working fine, although every now and then the mouse/keyboard lags a bit for a few seconds.

so i am just curious, does anyone know what could possibly be the issue here? just the fact that so many things are acting screwy leads me to believe it may be a hardware problem, or something of the sort. i'm just wondering if any one would have some leads as to what i should look into?

thanks in advance.

boy it's hard to tell ! did you install anything soft or hard before you left? soft wise, you can try rolling back using sys restore while a psu check might be considered as the first hard thing you should look into....

was the system online during that time? IF so, you may have been malwared - run spybot search & destroy and adaware (google them - freeware) to see if you have been spyware/malware/adwared.
Clear the cmos & reset
make sure that the keyboard/mouse are connected properly.
virus scan
double check all connections (motherboard to drives, power supply, all cabling)
good luck
