This happens in both Far Cry & Counterstrike Source. I get these strange lights in random places. Any idea what it could be? I've tried different drivers but that hasn't helped anything. Nothing is overclocked.

I can provide more pics if you think it would help!

Alright, what videocard do you have? We need to know that before we can awnser your question.

errrr... how about what kind of video card you have, motherboard, drivers, etc?

i get those messed up colors too, but only in CS:Source
anybody know why this is?

ATI Radeon X800 XL AGP

Hmm. That used to happen to me back then wehn i had my 9700 Pro (ah the good old days) and the card was busted. i had to RMA it. But that was my card. It could be different with your. Have you tried swappin gfx cards?

i have an ATI card in one of my other computers and i get odd colors too, usually blue or red.

trying changing your AA or AF levels...

That's just the deepest bowels of hell creeping through your computer into your room. Nothing special.

in cs:source
that has happened to me only if i have alt+tab out of game and the color i see is purple.

other than that, never happens to me.

Kinda looks like you have colored mipmaps forced--not quite though.

Sorry man, don't know what exactly is wrong. Have you tried a reinstall on everything to make sure it isn't software?

Stuff like that happens to me when I change AF levels at the menu (in Source) but dont quit the game and then come back in. Every game afterwards has purple-oil slick floors :p.
Maybe try using ATi Tray Tool to change the AF/ Trilinear optimisations? That may have something to do with it. Swap around the LOD, etc. Change the AA/AF levels and see if it only happens with a certain one.

I dont know about you man but I wouldnt mind having a floor like that in my house :D on the other hand like it has already been said prolly drivers.

Your X800XL is certainly posessed by evil, and is attempting to subvert your games and you. Quickly, before you fall too far under its control, send me the card, and I will keep it safe in my, er, very secure computer case.

Instead of trying to fix the problem, you should buy a BeeGees CD, Fire up some Saturday Night fever while pwning some n00bs at CS....Disco Lights in CS Source rocks. You mean you dont like to game like that?

Actually I think everyone in the world has this from time to time.

I used to get it horribly with my 5900XT  but I still get it with the 6800GT@Ultra - just not as bad.

I never recall anything in FarCry, tho.
