A couple of weeks ago, I came home after a few days out of the house.
Turned on computer, video card fans turned on, but bios beeped a video error.
After repeating a few times, video card fans stopped turning on on boot (card didn't turn on). I messed with the two power inputs and such, with no change. I decided the card died and RMA'd it. Replaced the card with an old gf7950gt, which worked fine.
Got the card back from Asus, and it still didn't work. Spent a while trying to find another test system with two PCIx power adapters and a big enough case, and couldn't. I had one 2x molex to PCIx power adapter, and journeyed to Fry's to get another. After hooking up the power this way, the GPU turned on, and system booted fine.
After deciding that this didn't make much sense (my PSU is a good, newish modular SeaSonic), I tried again with the original PCIx power connectors. It worked.
That seemed like a good time to quit messing with it, so I'm still lost as to what actually happened with my GPU.
Anybody have insight?
