I'm having a very strange problem with firefox (and a few other programs) in Windows XP. If I click on a link in a program other than firefox, the program I clicked the link in freezes completely for a minute or 2, until the page opens up in firefox. I've reinstalled firefox a few times, and that didn't help.
A few other things exhibit similar behavior. When I open the control panel from the start menu, the start menu / taskbar freeze for about 30 seconds to a minute, until the control panel opens up.
Any ideas? Any info I can post that would help people figure out what is causing this? My system is an E6750, P35C DS3R, 2 gigs of DDR2-800, 8800GTS 640, and 6 various sized hard drives, running a <month old install of Windows XP 32 bit SP2.
edit: the same problem happens if IE 7 is my default browser.
