Has anyone had any issues with the plastic barbs on the Storm? My TDX has chrome fittings and they would appear to be tougher. I just ordered a Storm and want to figure out what my options are.

I've had no issue with plastic fittings. The top plate is threaded for 1/4" NPSM, so your options are very limited. It would be real easy if the standard for waterblocks was G1/4" BSPP, but that is unfortunately not the case.

You'll probably find that the supplied fittings are as hardy as you'll ever need them to be.
 
I didn't like the plastic fittings supplied by Swiftech either so I have replaced all of them (Storm, Apogee and chipset) with DD Hi-flo fittings.
It's quite easy to do- ream the stock hole out to 1/2" (a tapered hole reamer works well in the Delrin*) and thread with a 9/16-18 tap.
Takes about 10 minutes per block.

*Must be careful on the chipset and Apogee blocks- reaming all the way through to the full 1/2" will break into the o-ring channel. Fortunately you do not have to ream or tap the full length of the hole to fully seat the barbs.
If you try it you'll see what I'm talking about.
