Black Friday is here and the usual chaos is in full effect at a store near you. What did you guys get this year? Anything? Are you waiting for Cyber Monday or do you just shop the normal sales and leave the overnight campouts to other people?

Analysts don't believe early discounting in October will take away the momentum of the Thanksgiving weekend. While Black Friday is expected by some analysts to be the busiest day of the season, it's not a predictor of how retailers will fare in the season overall. It does set the tone, though, since what consumers see that day influences where they will shop for the rest of the year.

I got the only thing I was really looking for, a 24" lcd monitor. I picked up the Soyo 24 from OfficeMax. Got the last one in the store. I'm really happy, a 24" monitor for $249 and no rebate. Sweet. :)

I really didn't see much in the ads that I wanted. I picked up a 20" CRT TV/DVD player for my sister for $99, other than that I only seen a 24V cordless drill at target for $39 that I wanted. I'll avoid cyber monday as if it is like last year half the sites will be dead most of they day so it is more of a pain that it is worth. I'll just pickup most of my stuff either online or via the store on "normal" shopping days.

I picked up an Intel Quad core Q6600 and ECS MB for $160.00 - no rebate. Meh on the MB, but the combo was cheaper than buying the processor itself.
1 Gig OCZ PC6400 for 19.00 - A/R.
Both at the local Fry's. Happy hunting!!

I'm going out to look for a 42" LCD widescreen television with preferably 1080p resolution for under $1000.

Wish me luck :D

I then made it to Kmart for there sale at 6 am. Dropped the girl off there so I could unload my truck at home. After I unloaded the truck, I drove over to Sears to pickup the awesome washer sale. Happy if people got good deals for "Black Friday", but ugh..have to be honest, I hate crowds. I did go out to eat (someone else cooked Thanksgiving this year, so no leftovers), but that's it..otherwise avoided the crowds like the plague. Just not my thing I guess..I'd have to NEED something for me to consider hitting a mall on "Black Friday" or day after Christmas.

We do things the smart way. We keep a list of people to buy for, and buy througout the year whenever we find a good sale. This way we spread the pain out all over the year instead of Xmas season/into spring. We also avoid people acting like herds of stampeding bovines all trying to get the same item(s), avoid the hassles of parking in Outer Mongolia, and avoid the oh so very cheerful people doing their Xmas shopping. For a supposedly joyous celebration of Jesus, they sure do act like a bunch of assholes, let me tell you.

We stay the hell out of malls and Dept stores once Thanksgiving hits. This lets us enjoy the holidays without a lot of pressure and hassle, saving our blood pressure and wanting to gun down the moron shoppers holding us up. :)
