Storage to fileserver in Vmware ESXi

Hi all

I have a litte question.

I plan to to a ESXi solution for my home servers. But I have some concerns.

Can I passthrough my Areca 1260 card to a specific Vmware host to get that one to have my 16TB+ Raid 6 array as I should have it if I ran it in a physical machine?

You can provision storage for a specific VM if thats what you mean? What is your physical setup? Where do you plan on installing ESXi?

Yes, I think you can pass through your hw raid card to a VM. Many are using IBM M1015 cards, pass through to OpenSolaris VM.

In this case it is a Dell T3500 that will be used. And ESXi and the datastores are installed on a hardrive that is directly connected to the motherboard, so that will not be installed on a disk connected to the controller.

I just want one Windows Server 2008 host to have the Areca card for storage
