My Rocket raid 454 came today, so I could finally put all those $20 80 GB hard drives to use. Kind of disappointed with the results, I may have to use 2 2 disk arrays instead of 1 4 disk array. But that belongs in the storage forum. Pictures go here.

dude where you find the cheap drives i want some. :)

also from my experience 2disk raid 0 will almost always be "as fast" as 4 disk. and the mean time before failure of a 4 disk raid0 is scary! dont put anything on there that you are worried about loosing:D
 
Heh thats the Chieftec version of the Antec 1080 isn't it. I've got the Antec 1080. How come you got those LED fans but no side panel window? What brand of LED fans are those and are those Antec round cables?
 
I know my old Abit MAX board would do a 4 drive raid 0 array, and I would imagine the new 4 channel SATA controller cards would do it too, hell I wonder how fact (and expensive) a 4 channel WD Raptor Raid0 array would be.

It is a chieftec case, not sure who the supplier is. The led's came with the cool drive 3. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=35-888-202&depa=0

No side panel window because it the case didn't come with one.I prefer it to be enclosed for now anyway. Hell, you see the mess that's in there.

I think a 4 channel sata array would be extremely good. I think my problem is the controller card is really 2 devices on 1 card, instead of being completely integrated. Not much I can do about it now though. Other than going to 2 arrays or mirroring.
 
No dude, i'm not talking about the LED's in the hard drive coolers, im talking about the 3 LED fans you have in your case. Their clear. What brand are they? Cooler Master Blue Neons? And i said was that an Antec Cobra cable laying in your floor? Those things are really long aren't they? I had thought about buying them and got to wondering if they would just be a big snake pile in the bottom of my case.
 
I love the desk. The metal, and the racks, and all the amps and stuff. Oh yeah, you *will* need to paint those optical drives. And fix that spaghetti clutter inside... but really cool :D

Oh, no.. I don't have any led fans. All those fans inside are 80mm antecs. Clear, but no leds. The cable is a 12" antec floppy cable. I have 2 18" IDE (I think 18") cables to connect the optical drives. They are long, and I'd rather they have only 1 connector, but they aren't too difficult to manipulate. They also hold their form.
