I have been getting this error every time I play HL2. I've never seen this before. Can someone shed some light on this???? I've installed Forcewear 6702 and even used Driver Cleaner in safe mode to make sure they were properly installed. It happens randomly, so I never know when it is going to happen. I've never had this trouble before.

I am having exactly the same problem. I cant play half-life 2 for more then 10 minutes. It always crashes at the point where the guy in the apartment says "hey, you, come over here" I have made it past that point by walking backwards past the guy, but then it crashes when I get near the edge of the roof. This really sucks.

If I find a solution that works for me, i'll try to post it.

I haven't had it happen in HL2 but it used to happen on my other computer when I'd play NeverWinter Nights. It only happened during that game and it happened every time I played.

My temps were a little high on that computer, so I lowered my overclock, relaxed the ram timings a touch and added a pci slot fan. It never happened again after that.

I don't know if that's what is happening to yours, but you never know. If you have an overclock (expecially on the vid card) I'd back it down a little and see if that helps... maybe relax the memory timings too.

Everything is running at stock timings, etc. Tried again after updating my chipset drivers. Still getting Stop Error.

Memory problems or overclocking problems. Tone down your timings or take a stick out to see if the problem is resolved. A lot of people have narrowed the issue down to memory. I had the same exact problems without the blue screen, had to hard reboot after 30-60 minutes of playing. Toned down my OC and my timings and can play for hours without any problems.

I just got that error myself. I'm toning down the OC on my 6800GT, and will keep backing stuff down until it doesn't happen anymore.. Pretty much my entire system is OC'd.

I've tried about three different Forceware driver versions. I may just slip a new drive in here tomorrow, load XP and all that along with Steam and see if I still get the Stop Error.

I just did 3 things and one of them seemed to fix the problem of the sound repeating over and over, which lead to a lockup or the stop error. I updated the bios on my P4P800 motherboard, and I installed a new driver for the onboard NIC. I also slowed the timings down on my memory from 2.5/3/3/6 to 2.5/4/4/8. I still have the auto saves set to read only, but those were never really a big problem for me anyway. I played for an hour and it worked very very well with my CPU and vid card highly over clocked. I'm playing at 16x12 with 4AA/8AF, and it's like buttah.

I'm going to keep playing for a while tonight. Tomorrow I'll try putting the memory back to where it normally is to see if that is what was causing the problem.
