I know this is probably a really stupid question, but will a PSU power anything if it isn't plugged into the mainboard? I'm in the middle of building a new rig and I wanted to test some fans, so I plugged them into my Enermax 470W PSU and flipped it on. Nothing happened. I jsut plugged 1 fan at a time into a 4 pin molex, nothing else was hooked up. Is my PSU dead or does it need to be hooked to the mobo?
