What is the stock intel TIM like that comes with the retail heatsink assembly. I do have some arctic silver, however I'm not sure how much I have left. If I took a picture could someone tell me?

Im planing on in a monthish when my PC's rebates come back buying a new heat sink for my E6750 so I don't want to run out of AS5 and have to buy some more.

There are better/newer thermal "pastes" out and someone posted a review on here that showed that AS5 was good, but not nearly the best. You should look into a different brand if you do buy some more.

Anyone know where that review is?

On stock cooling using a better TIM won't help you that much, especially if you're getting a better cooler soon. I say stick it out with the stock TIM until you get a real heatsink, and that way you can have the best of both worlds.

Is the intel stock TIM installed directly onto the heat sink like it used to be? or is it in a little packet and I apply?

For a stock cooler, the stock stuff is great. Even for an aftermarket cooler, the white paste is fine. Aftermarket is nice but not a drastic temp difference, be sure and apply a thin layer of either.

The key is in proper application, not the material.
