I was going to build a new computer and just as I was going to buy a Zalman 9500 but someone offered me a stock AMD 4400+ heatsink for free. I was just wondering if it would give me good temps. and if it would be quiet. The person told me that he read some reviews that say it gives both but I'd like to hear more feedback. BTW, the CPU I'm going to buy is a X2 3800+

Thanks

EDIT: I'm not looking to overclock when I build it, just thought that would be a deciding factor also.

I have this HSF as it came with my 4400 but I also bought a Zalman 7700 with it and am using that currently.

From what I have read the stock HSF with the heatpipes performs very well so your probably better off just sticking with that.

If you're not going to overclock, there's really no point in buying a new HSF when you have an excellent one that you got for free. I don't know how it would compare to the zalman, but the stock heatsink will be sufficient.

Thanks for the advice. It will save me a good $60 that can be used for something else. :)
