Would you guys think its a bad idea if I use the Stock AMD Heatsink/fan with Artic Silver 5 on a Winchester 3500 I like the quietness of the Stock fans.

I have good airflow in my case. Oh and how much would a lapping kit help on a stock Heatsink :p

And Yes I plan to overclock.. moderatly to like 2.6ghz hopefully if the AMD gawds allow :eek: ;)
 
It should work just fine. Just follow the instructions on the Arctic Silver web site for applying it and you should be all set. You might even get slightly cooler temps while you are at it. ;)
 
Would you recommend getting a lapping kit for the stock heatsink?

Honestly? I've never bothered to lap anything. Not that it's a bad idea, but I don't think you are going to squeeze a big enough cooling improvement out of a stock HSF to bother with it, and the really nice aftermarket HSFs usually have a nice finish on them already.
