Stirling Cooler

I wish I wasn't overtaxed in the funding department

because there is a Hughes Stirling Cooler up for auction on ebay

while it wouild be unsuitible for cooling a processor, it would be interesting to employ in say a calibration setup for thermocouples

there are much larger Stirling Coolers out there that would be able to deal with a processor
that one however I think is just to cool down an infrared CCD

I find Stirling engines (and specifically their most applicable use as a cooler) fascinating

The 3 phase 400Hz would be a pain tho......

Also the MTTF of a 1000 hours, not something I want to replace every couple of months.
