Well, called all around and still no 5800 series cards in stock and available to buy. Seems the "customer service" people have NO idea about this card whether it is in stock, or soon to be in stock. Amazing the amount of hype surrounding these releases with the inevitable let-down. And to think..I been squirreling my $$$$ to buy one. LOL.


Feel free to post up your failed attempts at locating either 5800 cards...(or your SUCCESS STORY in nabbing one!)
 
fry's might have them in stock if you got there, they frequently jump the gun before the deadline.

Calm down? You must be reading MORE into my post then was intended. I had some time to kill today (took off half a day from work) and decided to call around to see if there was a big stink about the new cards. Turns out...most of the people on the phone didn't know squat about the new cards. From all the hype, I would have believed the "tech type" retailers would at least have a clue. Notice the LOL at the end...seems to me that would come across as finding it FUNNY and NOT irritating. I'm calm and I'm gonna wait out the first rush to see if it is even worth an upgrade. Heck, I already spent the majority of my saved PayPal acct on some other un-needed items :)
 
yeah my supplier that i know personally says they only getting stock for the 1st October and only 20 5870 and 10 4850's , this is in NZ btw. So i'm guessing inital volumes are going to be really on the low side until manufacturing picks up near end Oct/Nov for Windows 7 release.
 
yeah, as I've been saying I don't think there will be any stock anywhere until 1st week of October with the US possibly later than that. Hell I could simply list a few for sale in my store without having stock...and get thousands of people excited.................................................. :eek:

I've confirmed that at least one major retailer ordered their allotment of 5870s yesterday at the latest. They are shipping now to retailers.
