still having sata problems, ne ideas??

let me draw this out for you all:

my mobo (asus k8ne-deluxe) has sata1 and sata2 ports, also raid1,2,3,4 ports.(and ide)

what i'm wanting to do
:is have a raptor drive (sata of course) as my OS drive (in sata slot 1)
:another raptor drive (for games) in sata slot 2
:the ide (master/slave total 2 drives) for downloads/uploads (master ide) and misc storage (slave ide)
:
4 drives so far (and this part is ok, but here is where i run into problems) when hooked to raid the bios sees all drives connected but windows will only see sata 1,2 and ide master/salve no drives in the raid slots

wanting to use the raid slots (if possible i have no idea) for ex:
raid 1- for photos editing ect
raid 2- programs
raid 3- maybe scrath disk for photoshop?


****is it possible to use the raid slots for extra drives not in raid, and for them to show up in '' MY COMPUTER'' as ex: C: D: E: F: G: H: I: drives and not have the raid slots as one big drive/ jbod?******

what am i doing wrong?

There very well could be a possibility that you cannot use eide and sata at the same time with that motherboard. I could not tell you for cirtian though as i've never used tht MB. But i know my gigabyte 8ipe1000pro cannot use the eide and sata at the same time.

have you called asus and asked them?
 
even with the ide drive disconnected windows will still not find the sata drives that are plugged into the raid slots
 
i had to change something in my bios for mine to see my sata drive.
 
Have you installed the proper drivers in windows? In device manager, are there any devices without drivers? Can you see the drives in Disk Management?
 
no ''other decives'' or hard drives without drivers and disk management don't see em either
 
Hmm. Okay, next thought is that many RAID controllers require drives to be in an "array", even if that's just a single drive JBOD. I'm pretty sure the Sil3114 that's on that mobo shouldn't require that, but it may depend on the implimentation.
 
well for what ever reason i noticed it wasn't there and after a few reboots it came up.... i dunno b/c i never made any changes just looked to see that the settings, drivers ect were all there and poof there they were. anyways thanks for all the help
