I've recently built a new rig and curreny surviving on the on board audio. I still have the original X-Fi XtremeMusic (SB0460) from the previous build, which I prefer to keep since the latest models don't seem to offer anything substantial (correct me if im wong) but...the PCI bus on ASUS P8Z77-V is handled by ASmedia's ASM1083 bridge controller and people have reported interruptions issues.
So my question is has anyone experienced any issues using the ASmedia controller and X-Fi sound cards togther under Windows 8 (x64)? If yes is it worth upgrading to SB Z series?
PS: I do have 5.1 system but I don't play any games on the PC anymore. I mainly use the soundcard for music at this point.
