Stepping question

Ok, I haven't overclocked any of my cpus and was looking into maybe doing so. I've read through the stickys several times (at different times) and have been readying some of the post in here and see people talking about the stepping of the cpu. Can someone explain or point me in the direction to read up on what exactly that is and how it applies to overclocking?

Maybe a stupid question...but hey...we all have to start somewhere
